The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi has announced the admission procedure for the post graduate diploma courses in journalism and important dates regarding it.
The courses are to be offered at IIMC nodal campus at New Delhi and regional campuses at Dhenkanal in Odisha, Amravati in Maharashtra, Aizawl in Mizoram, Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir and Kottayam in Kerala.
The last date for submission of application forms for admission to these PG courses is May 1st, 2018. The eligibility for admission to these courses is Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Those who have appeared/ are appearing for a degree examination are also eligible to apply. The admission will be done through an entrance examination which will be held at New Delhi, Bhopal, Srinagar, Jammu, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Mumbai, Odia, Patna and at Dhenkanal. The short-listed candidates will be called for an interview/group discussion at New Delhi. There will be an examination for the journalism course in Urdu will also be held in all different places where the entrance examination is.
IIMC judge candidates in the interview on the basis of their general knowledge skills, critically analyzing skills, their knowledge level in the field of politics, social, economic, sports and contemporary issues. They don’t expect a candidate to be like a complete journalist but they judge on the basis of their capacity of becoming a journalist.
Some important details regarding entrance examination are given follow:
Rs 1500/- for General category
Rs 1000/- for SC/ ST/ OBC/ Physically handicapped category
Online: Applications can be filled online at www.iimc.nic.in and fees can be paid online.
Offline: Candidates can download the application form, fill it and send by post along with the Demand Draft for application fee drawn in favor of ‘IIMC, New Delhi’ to the address ‘The Additional Director General (T&A), Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi-110067’
The candidates can submit one Application form for either Journalism (Hindi) or Journalism (English) as the written entrance examination and question paper will be common for above courses. Similarly, the candidates can submit one Application Form for either Journalism (Urdu)/ Journalism (Odia)/Journalism (Marathi)/ Journalism (Malayalam).
The last date for online application and for the duly filled applications to reach the prescribed address is 1 May, 2018.
